WEEK 9 PICKS: Langford To Take Charge

With Week 9 approaching, here are some suggested picks to make this week in PickChamps contests:

Jeremy Langford (RB) will have at least 75 rushing yards.

Matt Forte has basically been ruled out this week, leaving his 19.4 carries per game average for Langford to absorb most of. It’s possible the Bears go a little more pass-heavy as a result of this, but they get an ideal matchup Monday night going against a dreadful run defense. It’s always a good idea to target the Chargers, who continue to get gashed on the ground, as their yards per carry against mark stands at a league-worst 5.0. It bodes well for Langford’s prospects this week that he had 12 carries for 46 yards after Forte left last week’s game, so to get to 60 shouldn’t be difficult given a few more carries. Going safer here with 60 rushing yards instead of 75 will still return an attractive 2.50 offer and is obviously a more attainable mark.

Suggestion: 25.00 points X 4.00 Offer = 100.00 Winnings

DeAngelo Williams (RB) will have at least one total touchdown.

The most devastating injury of the week was Le’Veon Bell tearing his MCL and putting him out for the season. If there’s any consolation for Steelers fans, it’s that they have a serviceable replacement for him in Williams. DeAngelo has been quiet since Bell’s return Week 3, but it’s important to remember what he did the first two weeks of the season. Williams had a 21-127-0 rushing line in Week 1 and followed that with a 22-77-3 line in Week 2. With Ben Roethlisberger not at full health last week, he checked down a lot, throwing to Williams and Bell a total of six times. This puts a receiving touchdown very much in play for Williams. This is a very nice offer for a prop that’s probably has at least a 50 percent chance of hitting.

Suggestion: 25.00 Points X 3.57 Offer = 89.25 Winnings

Mike Evans (WR) will have at least 6 catches.

The Giants defense has looked terrible as of late, and was just crushed by Drew Brees for seven passing touchdowns. It’s doubtful they’ve fixed the passing defense in a week, and Jameis Winston has looked much better since his rocky start. Evans by far is the top receiving option for the Buccaneers who are missing Vincent Jackson and Louis Murphy. He’s coming off a disappointing week with only three catches for 48 yards, which may explain the generous offer here. This week Evans won’t be shadowed by a tough corner in Marcus Trufant. Additionally, it’s worth nothing that he did have nine targets last week and eight catches just two weeks prior. Look for Evans to bounce back in a big way at home this week.

Suggestion: 25.00 Points X 4.55 Offer = 113.75 Winnings

Brandon LaFell (WR) will have at least four receptions.

When you’re either the third or fourth receiving option for Tom Brady, it will always you on the radar in DFS. LaFell has two games under his belt and has gotten seven and eight targets in those two games since returning. He had some bad drops and managed only two catches his first game back, but looked much more comfortable and ended up with four grabs last Thursday against the Dolphins. This week, the Patriots welcome the Redskins into Gillette Stadium in what should be a favorable matchup for New England’s passing attack. It seems reasonable to think LaFell can at least match last week’s output and probably has a good chance for more than four catches. Look for the Patriots offense to keep clicking this week as they continue to establish themselves as one of the best teams in the league.

Suggestion: 15.00 Points X 2.33 Offer = 34.95 Winnnings

Ben Watson (TE) will have at most 43 receiving yards.

Watson has two monster games in his last three (127 and 147 receiving yards) so this is why this is a Bold Prediction this week. Watson has become Drew Brees’ favorite target, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise given what Jimmy Graham did while he was in a Saints uniform. The fact is, there are plenty of mouths to feed in this offense, and Watson didn’t eclipse 43 yards in any of the first five weeks. The Titans are giving up an average of just 48 receiving yards per game to opposing tight ends, showing that they’re not a bad unit against this position. They do have a shot of bottling up Watson this week.

Suggestion: 10.00 Points X 4.76 Offer = 47.60 Winnings
